We started Austin Pool Times in 2021 because pool owners here deserved a company with a face and a name. Our clients range from hillside estates with vanishing edges to family backyards, plus apartments, hotels, HOA and neighborhood pools, gyms, and parks.
The ground under those pools changes as you drive west. The Bureau of Economic Geology at UT Austin describes soils west of the Balcones Escarpment as thin and rocky, over Glen Rose and Edwards limestone and dolomite, while soils to the east are “deep, well-developed.” Austin itself straddles that line.
You can see it at the pool. Hill Country lots in West Lake Hills, Lakeway, Bee Cave, and Dripping Springs are often cut into rock on a slope. A heavy storm sends runoff, leaves, and limestone grit straight across the deck and into the water. Equipment pads often sit downhill at the end of long plumbing runs. A vanishing edge adds a catch basin that needs its own attention.
